If you are a makeup lover like me, or even if you just apply makeup once in a while, you understand the importance of making it last long. My biggest obsession with makeup, has always been on how to make my makeup last longer. Especially if you are blessed with oily to combination skin like me. I mean, you don’t want to spend you 10 to 15 minutes applying makeup only to have it slide off your skin in an hour or two. I have gone through many different primers and products that promise to make my makeup last longer and stay and the promises they come with. I will post tips to help your make last longer on Saturday, 21 January, 2017.
My TOP ONE product is the Milk of Magnesia to keep my face oil free. When you have oily skin, the first thing you want to take care of, is keeping the oils at bay. I have been using it for the past 4 years. The only negative thing I would say is that it is too drying if you don’t apply a moisturizer. By the way, Milk of Magnesia, is actually meant to be taken for tummy aches, so use at your own risk.
The Milk of Magnesia, has a roughish texture to it, so I would strongly recommend using a primer after. Primers do for your skin what lingerie does for your figure – they smooth, flatter, conceal and hold things in place, so that everything you put on top of them looks immediately better. Whether you want to blur wrinkles, mattifying, minimize the appearance of pores or even out skin tone, primers do this whilst creating a perfect base for makeup and helping your makeup last longer. Here is the best of what I have tried:
Smashbox – Photo Finish Foundation Primer
So many people love this primer that Smashbox launched a whole range of alternative versions for different skin types and requirement. I always by the original though, it gives a soft-focus finish and leaves a silky texture to your skin.
Benefit – The Professional
Benefit is dedicated to making large pores less noticeable. The Professional’s oil free formula and long lasting results is my favorite since I tried their products.
Hourglass – Ambient Light Correcting Primer
The oil free Hourglass’s Ambient Light Correcting Primer is the best when you are trying to achieve that radiant glow. It is lit from within, weightless, and the texture feels really smooth.
