I have read a few books and articles here and there on mastermind groups, but I never really paid attention to them. I always thought that the whole concept was cool, but I never got to doing it. It is only recently that I have come to realize the importance of forming a mastermind group, which has been the fire that actually fueled this blog, the connection of all my social media pages and my online store www.fuliru.ca . Next week I will post tips for creating your mastermind group.
What is a Mastermind Group?
In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill describes it as “the coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”
I recently started working in a new company, and I am getting to know my amazing co-workers, with whom we actually share a lot of interests and some goals we want to achieve. We talk everyday, since we work close to each, and brainstorm our plans, be it big or small. It has been such an amazing experience to share our plans, progress on what I am doing. At first, I didn’t even realize that what we are actually doing is a sought of mastermind group.
The Benefit of a Mastermind Group
- Support communityMastermind groups gives/creates a community of people who not only want to see you succeed, they cheer you on and support you along the way as you go.
Test your ideas
Your mastermind group is perfect place to test the ideas you have been thinking about and get feedback on them. The group might also be able to offer other insight of things you didn’t think about and how to improve your ideas.
Sometimes you get started on something, and find it hard to finish. Your mastermind group is always checking up on you and your progress, and since you see other people working on their goals, it gives motivation to continue working on your plans.
progress checks are a must in mastermind group, because of this, you always have that push to work harder to have something to share. It allows the members to see how far you can go with proper planning, and allows you to bounce off your ideas for the future.
Expand your network
If created properly, your mastermind group should include people with different experiences and within different fields, but of course still related in some ways. If not, everyone you know, knows someone who knows someone. Your mastermind group members usually help form introduction to other people they know with the skill set you are looking for.
I will post tips for creating your mastermind group next and some of the things you should think about when creating and hosting/arranging a mastermind group.
