I am definitely not one to change any of the products I use on my face, because my skin is very sensitive, so when I find something that works, I just stick to it. It was just my luck that my younger sister received the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation as a gift. I was in love the moment I put it on, but whether it would last all day on my oily face was the true test.
First of, Urban Decay claims that the, “All Nighter Liquid Foundation provides full coverage with a modern matte finish that never looks overdone. Get all-night wear and a blown-out effect you never thought was possible for a flawless-looking complexion that looks amazing and stays that way.”
I prefer medium coverage foundation, only because they are lighter on my skin. The All Nighter though, is a full coverage foundation. Even when you just use a small amount, it is still full coverage. I only use 1 pump and you can’t see any discoloration on face. Mind you, I don’t really have a lot of hard to cover blemishes, but I am sure it would do the job in one coat, even you needed really full coverage. I thought this foundation would be similar to Kat Von D full coverage foundation (which I do not like because of how heavy it is), but I was pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t just sit on your skin, it applies very smoothly and is not heavy on your face.
It has a matte finish but it not completely flat and it doesn’t dry with a powdery finish like many matte foundations do. If you are in my shade, it has a little of an orange-ish finish, like you got an nice sun-kissed tan. I have combination skin, so I always make sure I use a moisturizer and prime my face before applying the foundation. For those of you with large pores, the best way to apply any foundation is to push it on with a buffing brush, and I have to say even without a primer, this barely settled in my pores, which many foundations of this finish and coverage usually do.
The Urban Decay All Nighter foundation comes in 24 different colors to choose from, so a good range from porcelain through to deep. For the first few minutes when you apply it, looks too air brushed – but panic not, this is due to the denseness of the pigment – it soon settles down and when it warms to your skin it does oxidize slightly to become the color you see on the color swatch on the palette, pretty similar to the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. You can see in the video of when I first applied and how it looks after it had settled in.
This foundation looks flawless all day, and talking like 12-hour day and even when I am going out for drink after work, I don’t really need to do anything. I of course wear it with the milk of magnesium, which I covered in the best primer products post.
All in all, if you have oily or combination skin, are looking for a long lasting matte foundation with a smooth finish, then you can’t go wrong with the Urban Decay All Nighter. If you try or have tried it, I would love to know how you felt about it, and other products that are good for oily skin.
